disturbing....but HAS to go in the book

or the blog that will become the book.

so yea - this story is slightly disturbing. i'm not going to lie. i will however sugar coat it all i can. i've thought again and again i really maybe shouldn't post it cuz readers will cringe and/or puke in their mouth. my baby will probably laugh, but also be mortified when she one day reads it. but it just has to go in the book.

so, ahem...once upon a time...in a cozy and loving home...

i'm woken by adelyn's "maaaa-meeee...maaaa-meeee." i tiredly go, pick her up out of her crib, (simultaneously) give her a big squeeze, whisper 'good morning baby' and turn off her fan, and then head to the bathroom so i can relieve my bladder from it's latest 6 hour shift...with sweet ad still in my arms.

i stand in front of the toilet, set adelyn down right in front of me, drop my drawers, plop down and (simultaneously) pee, blink several times to help my eyes wake up and push ad's hair out of her face and behind her ear.

i hear, "uh oh mommy. uh oh mommy." from adelyn as she's pointing to the clothes-created bunch between my knees. she starts walking away, i look down and sure enough my monthly 'friend' has marked her territory...claiming victory for the next 4-5 days. "uh oh is right" i say back to her as i slide my clothing up to mid thigh and out of view until i can properly change and take care of things.

but by now little ad has been in my feminine product drawer, pulled out a tampon and is holding it up for me..."hee ya go mommy...hee ya go."

i picked my jaw up off the floor, said "thank you," took care of things...

and we live happily ever after. the end.

i've realized, and quickly accepted, that my privacy has been non-existent for nearly 3 1/2 years. and i know that they are watching and absorbing every moment, but seriously?!!

seriously! she knows what that means?!?!?!?!

i've only had about 9 "visits" since even being a mother,
remember, so i know i have a very observant girl on my hands. i mean pee in front of my girls, yes. but come on they're not making play books out of my bathroom trips...or are they? i probably should really start using the bathroom alone.

bwahahaha. now THAT story would be the real fairytale.

22 months

oh our sweet adelyn ann!!! you are 22 months old today and we cannot believe it!! ::cue tears now::

ad, you are miss independent! each and everyday you are trying to prove yourself more and more. and miss ad, you are doing a good job of it. a real good job. although, thank goodness, you still love to be babied once in awhile. you LOVE to be rocked and would sometimes prefer to carried all day long (just around the house - not when we're out, of course).

the BIGGEST thing this past month is you now speak FULL SENTENCES!!! everything is full sentences. you were using phrases and basically your just put "I" in front of everything. you also end everything with "mommy" or "daddy." so everything is, "i want a bite, mommy." "i hungry, daddy." "i want up, mommy." "i want to color, daddy." "i need help, mommy." it's been so fun to hear your little voice more and more! you're cutest word is "yahhh." and you say "no" all the time. it's more "NO!!" or "NO NENA!!"

you're pretty demanding. you always do the slow push on our thighs saying, "sit mommy" to get us to sit and give you our full attention. :)

you still have quite the temper...
you swat. you pinch. AND bite. :( this is you going after your sister's hand (don't worry i stopped her). and she currently has a nice bruise on her forearm from your teeth. you've also left some bruises on your friends. :(
another new thing this month is your newly developed fear of heights! we can still 'toss' you in the air if it's super duper quick, but if we hold you up there or do it the tiniest bit slower, you are terrified! you hate it. to the point that when you're on your changing table, you are holding on for dear life! no joke. unfortunately this has not curbed your desire to climb. apparently you're only scared of heights when it's on your terms. shocker, ad. i have a feeling this will be a theme for quite some time. ::grin::

you're imagination is really growing, ad. you love to pretend play. you're a great little momma to your dolls and are always going somewhere. you push your stroller with a purse on your arm, walk away from me and, loooking back, say, "bye mommy. la-lu."

it's so weird that we are about to plan your second birthday party, little ad. we're reminded of your babiness all the time though. like every time you suck your thumb and play with your ear...

our sweet adelyn, happy 22 months! you are so much fun! you love puzzles, stickers, books and colors. you have a sweet tooth and a hard head (seriously you hit your head all the time). you are a tiny little thing FULL of spunk. you have very good manners, but are as fiesty as helk. you're so extremely lovable and we can't help but laugh at you everyday. you're really so funny. you're so smart...maybe too smart. but really, you are awesome and i believe it's going to be a wild ride, but we're going to love it!

dress up

we're raising girls, ya 'all. and nothing says that more than playing dress up on a sunday morning in our pj's AND turning it into a photoshoot.

e was super into it...

and totally played it up for the camera...
she could only sit for a minute...she had to get "backstage" and change...
that's right...they'd go 'backstage' and get a whole new gitup on.
daddy was running 'backstage.' i know...i was a little surprised too.
ad was into it too, but more wanted to do the dress up part... put things on and take things off...
trying to put it back in... even though she just pulled it out
so back and forth....
in front of the camera for a minute....
then backstage for a new look...
all over their pj's...
needless to say, we had fun...
and i got to capture my beautiful girls...
being fancy...

and loving it!

show me coy...
show me happy...
show me mad...
show me shy...
show me i-got-an-eye-on-you...
show me shock...
show me delight...
show me endearing...
give me surprised...
show me flipping cute...
show me serious...
show me mysterious...
show me angry...
like, really angry...
oooh, vicious...
show me too-sweet-to-be-mad...
what fun we had being fancy!!
all four of us!

duck...duck...duck...duck...

duck...duck...run run run in a circle as many times as you can and as fast your little feet can go.

we've been playing "duck duck goose" 'round here during these cold couped up months. and seriously, it's a freaking riot. lanie gets it of course, but ad took some time.

here is some footage from our first ever game of duck duck goose...

and here is some from the second time...

they do get it! but really...really, they just LOVE to run and run and run and run in circles. so duck duck goose = perfect way to spend time in our house and the perfect way to bring a smile to our face.

p.s. j and i might have to start taking dremamine, cuz we get dizzy just watching them let alone when they goose us.

rocking twenty eleven

we have been rocking 2011. our girls have been on such good behavior that jo frost would be taking notes. and good behavior = fun activities and smiles on all our faces!

it started with elena scoring some major smiley faces on her responsibility chart. and good behavior deserves to be rewarded!

they got a trip to hobby lobby to pick out a craft. everything was singing valentine's day, so we went with it...
finished project...
"ta daaa..."
movie nights...the highlight of our week, really.
right after we ring in the new year, we celebrate daddy's birthday!
of course, some things never change...
we are still spending 90% of our time just being silly...
playing around in our comfy clothes...
and loving on each other...
oh, and of course we are still awesome at getting dizzy... it'll be 2021 before this gets old. ;)
