restaurant etiquette

nona turned 93 the day after our birthday! so us girls had to get out and celebrate with a fancy lunch... how cute are these two?! (and heidi's bday is just a week after our's!)

and these two?

it's just too fun for us girls not to sit around, eat and laugh!!

but let me tell ya....us girls like our dessert!!

so much so that our restaurant etiquette (what we have of it) goes right out the window...

i mean, do you see that? they are fighting over tipping the plate up so that any chocolatey-cookie-ice-creamy remnants would seep down and fall into their mouth - which is WRAPPED AROUND THE PLATE!!!

not exactly a proud mommy moment...and of course screaming happened/continued every time i tried to give the plate to the waitress... but they didn't care!

they were determined to lick it all off the plate... so i stuck my head so far up my ass that i was kissing my teeth and i did my fake mommy laugh..... a.....ha......ha......ha......a...... what?! nothing going on here..... we're not making a scene at all..... swear..... a.....ha.....ha......ha.....a.

and i waited for what seemed like hours for the very embarassing, very long moments to pass while my oh-so-sweet girls licked off every morsel of dessert off the plate. ::sigh::

and somehow the only two that don't feel like stuffed pigs afterward...

pizza and pedicures

we're spending a lot of time outside swimming, riding bikes, swinging, coloring the driveway, etc. so when we are inside we are eating or doing something girly. and that about sums it up.

the girls are making their pizza...



ad went with bacon for her side of the smile and e went with green pepper for her side.
i think it looks like a perfect smiling pizza and they devoured it!
we also let the girls make j and i's pizzas...we special ordered them how we wanted and they did fabulous!
and they love their pedi's!! daddy gave his first pedicure to miss e and she was sooo excited about it!

ice cream truck

nothing says summer like an ice cream truck blaring that upbeat elevator tune slowly making it's way through your neighborhood selling some cold treats...and possibly some crack????! creepiness aside - we bought some sealed ice cream treats from the ice crack truck....and the girls loved every second of it.

from waiting for the ice cream truck theme song to get louder and louder as we could tell it was making it's way to our street and picking it out from a picture on the side of the truck from releasing a high pitch squeal at the sight of their character popsicle and licking every last drop of a sweaty drippy cold treat on a hot summer night.

they settled on tweety bird and shrek!
yes, i put their aprons on. what about it?!

they of course soon landed - yes, landed - in bowls and were eaten with spoons...ok, and tongues.

ice cream shop

last weekend we took the first trip of the year to the ice cream shop...

where the girls had their FIRST CONES!!!


AND LOVED THEM!


and they were surprisingly a cleaner eat than the dishes we usually get....but i suppose they have aged about 5 months since we've last been to the ice cream shop too.

i shitunot i took a picture of adelyn's hair cause it was blowing crazy in the wind and frankly, it reminded me of a toilet flushing...
i shitunot adelyn looks ridiculously adorable in her new raincoat and sunglasses...
my dad had surgery a few weeks ago and i shitunot elena signed her name perfectly on his cast...
i shitunot i meant to write about my brother tony's and my dad's birthdays that were over a month ago now...
i shitunot little ad won't have any hand-me-downs cause e stains everything. anyone else see the irony in this...
i shitunot elena has to make her 'mad' face for every posed picture...and then she wants to see it. i shitunot adelyn will NOT sit for a posed picture for anything! still trying to get those 1 yr pics!
i shitunot every once in while i get a glimpse of miss e about 13 yrs from now...
i shitunot it wasn't 3 minutes before i snapped this picture that i had scrubbed this room clean! sigh. 3 minutes. i shitunot! i shitunot the day after adelyn's birthday, she discovered how to turn the tv on and off. it's fabulous.
i shitunot i could spend an hour of every day watching elena eat a taco. it's great.

i shitunot i will stop talking about adelyn's first birthday someday...but today is not that day.

i shitunot on adelyn's birthday MINUTE (seriously like the exact minute she was born on her birthday) she stood up by herself from the floor for the first time...it was very cool.
and i shitunot i caught it on film after she did it about 1/2 a dozen times...sideways.

i shitunot in the last few weeks i got my dear husband jason to do 2 things he said he would NEVER EVER do...1) cut the girls' fingernails and 2) buy me a minivan! woot woot!

feed me

sometimes i feel like all i do is meal plan...
make grocery lists...
prepare meals/snacks...
cut up meals/snacks...
and watch as my little girls...
get nourished and re-energized...
and i love it!
and really there is no other point to this post besides that. i love providing good, healthy meals/snacks for them. and in efforts to cut my ridiculous grocery bill every week - as part of my new year's resolution - i started coupon clipping. i've been doing fairly well and just broke my previous record of saving $12.54 this weekend....where i saved $19.23 with coupons at ONE store. woo hoo! [don't get behind me in line.] oh, and i also wanted to make the point that...
