#3

the girls love to take our phones and take pictures....
they caught me catching a quick nap on the couch.....something i seriously NEVER do!!!
then of course they woke me up....and caught it on camera....
i thought i was possibly recouping from a busy weekend celebrating with family.  while with family, we discussed and planned on making a quick trip to vegas with my brother and sister-in-law.  as it would turn out, we weren't going to be able to go.  i am pregnant!!  the extreme tiredness and two dollar store tests confirmed it...
they were so faint and i was in such shock i drove to target on our only snow day to pick up a digital test...
#3!!!  :D
jason got home later that night and i gave him a little riddle....

godparents

labor day weekend we had the honor of committing to be henry thomas' godparents! it was such a special day for us. our only godson. his parents, emilie and jason, are like family to us and we feel so privileged. we love you henry!

6 years

6 years ago today we started life as a family. we know how lucky we are to be a healthy and happy family.

our new year's eve

i have a love/hate relationship with new year's eve. i'm not that much of a fan of all the hype to party and do something fabulous, but i do find new year's super sentimental...and ya know how i love all the sentimental stuff. i love looking back on the year....being thankful for all that happened....and looking ahead to what the next year might have in store for us. awwwww.

well, this new year's eve was ridiculously nice out, so we headed out on a scavenger hunt (aka collecting crap off the street) of course.... with these 2 cuties....

we do this all spring, summer and fall and they simply love it to see what they collected....
truly love it....and right after this picture adelyn tried to pick up a piece of dog doo on the street and we high-tailed it home....
and of course we had to end the year with some ice cream...
we discussed some of our favorite things of 2011 - the top 2 were the slip-n-slide and welcoming our first cousin. and then we made a toast to what lies ahead....

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

well as you can see it was only 9 o'clock that we did our family countdown....then j and i started celebrating our new year....with crab legs of course....which j set up and cooked everything. :)

we got really dressed up for the occasion...

and we might have got a little silly....

and then someone got the giggles....
it wasn't me though....
well, maybe a little....

then we were back to being silly....

then i realized my camera was not capturing my cross-eyes. i figured it had to be the flash or something cuz i can certainly do cross-eyes. but then i tried and tried and tried....and well....i guess i can't do cross-eyes. :(
but it's ok - my dance skills make up for it....
hope you all had a happy new year too! our staying in, having a low key night (with a photo shoot) has been a long tradition of ours. and while it's nothing glamourous - it certainly is us! and we have such awesome memories of our no-big-deal-new-year's!
for the record - we made it til 2:30am!

memorial day weekend

thank you for the kind words everyone. it is devasting and i really appreciate the pick-me-ups.

so onto this frown turning upside down...we had an amazing memorial day weekend!! to say the least. j and i headed to chicago to spend the weekend with my brothers, sister-in-law and heidi and shane!!! fun, eventful and with the ones i love! perfect.

friday night we all enjoyed an amazing dinner and headed to a sky bar for some drinks and a good view. cousins....one with his eyes closed.

i had really cute pictures of everyone at dinner. :( we ended the night playing taboo. :) we then started saturday with breakfast....homemade by tony. french toast, hashbrowns, bacon, bloody beers...and bachelorette party napkins. ;) oh - and some 3d tv...
we then headed to the pitiful cubs game...
with great company once again...
the whole fam bam....hanging out after the game.

bulls game

j and i actually had a night away, mid december. we headed to chicago to see 'da bulls.' nosebleeds, of course... ;)
we brought j's brother, doug and his gf, adrienne...
we used to see the bulls quite often, but this was our first time back since 2003!
they ended up losing by ONE. booo. but we had a great time and the united center is always such an exciting atmosphere.
after we met my brother, tony, and headed out...
where we only drank the 2 oz's in those shot glasses and i danced no less than 3 hours. :)
