R.I.P.

excuse the drama, but i may actually tear up while writing this post. this post is dedicated to a special pair of pink-polka-dot-sunglasses. yep, you read right. a pair of sunglasses. it's not the sunglasses that make me sad. ok, well maybe a little, but it's their story, their loyalty, their experience. yep - it's that dramatic.

cuz ya see, when spring 2008 had sprung and i could bring little e out to play, we needed to cover those gorgeous baby blues...that's when the real love affair began. i bought a cute pair of pink-polka-dot-sunglasses for my little elena when she was just 8 months old.

i know nothing about this story so far is impressive. but if you know my little elena at all, you would know she's super attached to these sunglasses. she wore them everywhere. it didn't matter if it was inside or outside or sunny or cloudy or summer or winter. no one could believe that when my 8 month old could finally play outside, she actually preferred, wanted and insisted wearing these sunglasses.

well, she has worn them....to death. ::cue tears here:: what?! you were warned. it's not that the sunglasses are 'gone.' it's what my little e's baby blues have seen through these pink-polka-dot-sunglasses. when i think about ALL the beautiful sights her little eyes have seen i, well, get teary. i mean, it's the FIRST time she's seeing things. and many many many of them have been through these cute pink-polka-dot-sunglasses...

lots of playtime at parks...

long strolls in the wagon...

bike rides with mom and dad...

the beautiful country of canada...

taking dips in the pool...

practicing to be a big sister...

real animals at the zoo...

turning one year old...

practicing her swing...

picking out the perfect pumpkins...

she'd even wear them at night...and in the winter...

on easter egg hunts...

while being strapped to her leash...

taking her first walks with her little sister...

driving for the first time...

taking her first bites of ice cream...

not liking the sprinkler...

but again loving the pool...

climbing...and feeling like she's on top of the world...seeing it all for the first time...

and just looking damn cute while doing it...

rest in peace cute pink-polka-dot-sunglasses. thank you so much for protecting my little e's baby blues and allowing her to see new things with an added spunk.

so....

we are on to new glasses. we gotta protect those baby blues. we stuck with pink....

with a slight pink tint...and still damn cute...

i told ya it was dramatic...

oh come on - stories are always a little better with some drama.

she rolled over....

she's been sooooo close for weeks now, but seemed to lack the desire and energy needed (she's so laid back). but it turns out adelyn was just waiting for the perfect moment...when all four of us were just hanging out playing in the living room this morning. she wanted to make sure we all could experience it with her - what a doll! she has the 3 biggest cheerleaders!! go adelyn!!

my apologies for the craptastic picture, but you get the idea....she rolled over!! tummy to back! woot woot!

he's baaack...

daddy has been gone for the last week and a half....enjoying some freedom in the canadian wilderness. since we've been a family we've only been seperated overnight once - when i was in the hospital with adelyn and he stayed home with elena...we're pretty lame like that. it was a very tearful goodbye, with lots of hugs and kisses...

we missed him terrible, but survived just fine. we kept very busy....mostly with some retail therapy. ;) but we also had lots of visitors...

we spent lots of time with uncle e (my bro) and aunty steph...

went to the gardens with 'bobbi' (my mom)...

had playdates with good friends (shayla, jackson and quinn)...

got dressed up and went to a party...

and spent plenty of time just playing...

and hanging out in our pj's...

accompanied with bedhead of course...

it definitely felt like i had 2 new hips...

as we did nothing without each other and didn't have that extra set of hands to help.

but in just a week and a half...

adelyn fell in love with her exersaucer (cuz mommy finally got it out for her!!)

especially that pretty baby that keeps showing up...

learned to do push ups on her knees (look at that concentration - she's even got the nostril flare down)...

and now sleeps with a lovey...

and elena can now open door knobs (hello sleeping adelyn!!), pretends under the kitchen table is a fort...it's her new hang out.

has made up a new dance move, the "booty twister"...where she balances on her head and feet and shakes her butt. and it has led to somersaults. yay! looks so natural, right?! ah, to be so young again...

and is trying to pee standing up! not-so-yay. but if it somehow potty trains her, then hey - by all means - stand up to pee e!

disclaimer: i had nothing to do with these last two.

seems like nothing, i know. but the little changes are happening every day and it's very weird when you take just a few of those days and actually calculate them. all the new vocabulary and facial expressions and mastering current skills, like spitting while brushing teeth. everything just happens so fast. and it definitely wasn't the same without our daddy. we're so happy to have him back! elena hasn't taken her eyes off of him since his homecoming...

special bonus points: he stopped to get a bottle of wine and 2 blizzards from DQ before returning...after a 14 hour drive. is he trained or what?!
