elena got fitted for shoes for the first time. she is in a size 5 wide! i usually just buy from target or whatnot. so we finally got her some brand new supportive kicks.

reason #3126
why i hate the cubs......tuesday night the big premiere of 90210 was pushed back an hour or more due to the cubs game going into overtime. it made me feel much better knowing they lost!
there is an encore presentation tonight at 7...i will be glued!
yay for all the tv show premieres coming up! so exciting as a pregnant mother of a one year old! :D

facing forward
this past weekend we turned elena's carseat around to face forward. she was excited for about 12 seconds and then the usual removal and tossing of the sunglasses, hat and shoes took place...
excited...
(2 seconds later) going to work on the shoes...
(6 seconds later) lost the sunglasses...
(11 seconds later) hat tossed to the seat and shoes as off as she can get them.

whole milk
since turning one, elena's had quite a few firsts. here is her first time drinking whole milk.
"um, what's that there?"
"whole milk, you say...i'll give it a try. i'm adventerous like that."
(insert gagging noises here)
"maybe if i hide from the whole milk, it will leave."
no seriously, she's hiding from the milk. it didn't get the hint.
she's s l o w l y coming around to it. can't say i blame her. not a milk fan myself.

i am no longer just talk. i finally buzzed our dog, dallas. he's got 3 bald spots and is in need of some major touch ups, but i think i did a pretty good job.
i didn't take an immediate before picture, but i wish i would have cuz this doesn't capture how long his hair actually was....being wind blown and all.
good thing i had elena to hold him down.

what's in a name?
i get regular emails/updates from random websites regarding my toddler and/or pregnancy. this week we got some interesting insight from babyzone ...their numerologist predicts your babies personality based on their name - how many letters, how many are consonants, vowels, etc. our results...

to the point
i think it's safe to say that i've been known to be quite upfront with most things, ok maybe everything. but on a sunday morning in the middle of july, i surprised my husband jason (and even myself) with just how frank i can be!
ya see i had juat taken a pregnancy test and well, as you know, it was positive! in trying to grasp this incredible news, i was also racking my brain to find a creative and special way to tell the baby daddy. well, i gave creative and special a whole new meaning that sunday morning....and in staying true to the person i am, i had my camera on and ready to go!!
there was jason playing oh-so-sweetly with his little girl...
when he began to tease me, jokingly (something we do quite often in this house).
and i BLURTED out, "is that how you talk to your PREGNANT wife!?" you can really almost see that "what did you just say?" text bubble next to his stunned face, can't ya?!
"what?! you can't be?! are you?! no?! get outta here?! that would be crazy?! how do you know?! i need proof?! you're effing with me?! aren't you?!"
"AHHHH! HOLY *!@*(#$ #*@!!!" (insert screams of excitement here)
elena thought it was hilarious that we were acting so excited and happy!
she couldn't help but be excited right with us!
how cool it will be for her little brother or sister to see how excited she was when she "found out" she was going to be a big sister! so awesome!
and of course, what we are all so excited about!!

elena meeting family
not only was it her big birthday weekend, but elena finally had the pleasure of meeting lots of family from california! they all flew in to surprise our nona for her 90th birthday, which was conviently the day after elena's first birthday! it couldn't have worked out better and having them here meant the world to our family! here are some highlights...
