2 3/4

i have soo much to blog about. but adelyn, i do not want to miss out talking about YOU and what you're doing at 2 and 3/4 years old. we spent the day celebrating christmas of course... that to follow.

but you, miss adelyn, at 2 3/4 years old:

- the biggest change since 2 1/2, is that you're finally potty trained! it was actually on your 2 1/2 'birthday' that we said "enough" and put ya back in underwear. you've been so back and forth for months before and you were so ready. so underwear it was. you had about 2 or 3 accidents and were good to go. pooping took a good week to get down. and you still sometimes go potty right in front of the toilet cuz you're too interested in whatever else or HAVE to turn the light on yourself and don't quite make it in time.

- have 6 freckles! i'm sure there will come a time where we won't be able to count, but right now they are coming slowly and you are up to six!

- i've scheduled you a haircut. :( you have never gotten your haircut. your hair is perfect. perfect! but it's about time for your first trim. i don't know if i can go thru with it yet, but i have til february.

- you sometimes nap. you sometimes don't. when you nap i have to wake you after an hour, otherwise you give us a very hard time going down at night. if you don't nap, you're asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, usually around 6:30pm.
falling asleep on the toilet on a no nap day. :)

- you're still have quite the sweet tooth. you'd love to eat sweets all the time.

- you're miss independent for the most part. unless it's bedtime. you become a bit helpless and love to be pampered. you love to be rocked and i HAVE to sleep with you. and you'll often want to be carried around, but i think it's cause you're tired with the no nap days.

- we got rid of your changing table about a month ago. we obviously weren't using it. but it was sad to get rid of it. :(

- you love caillou. it's the only show you want to watch. you also want to watch movies, but rarely make it through them.

- you don't like pictures taken of you. still. unless they're with your sister. then you can all of a sudden tolerate a picture.

- your big sis loves to teach you things and for the most part you let her.

- you also love to be the "teacher" and are often immitating us asking us questions, etc. and then praise us. it's so very cute.

- you are learning new things everyday. and it's amazing to see how you process and interpret it all as you go!!

- you have only been listening to me (well - when you want to listen!). daddy will tell you something and you have to ask me to 'make sure.' with everything! it cracks me up! daddy of course isn't finding it as humorous, but trust me - tis!!!

- you totally break out in song every once in awhile - it's either "super base" or "single ladies." and you positively have the cutest voice.

- you speak very matter of factly and sometimes add an "ah" in between words sounding very italiana. "i don't want my-ah-carrots!"

- i can finally say you're a decent sleeper. you typically sleep through the night now. there are nights here and there that you climb up in my bed and sleep right next to me. sometimes i don't even realize it.

- you still want what you want, even concerning sleep...
here you are sleeping on the floor cause you plain refused to sleep in your bed. ???

so i let you nap on the floor, then of course you wanted to that night too.
so fine, you sleeping on the floor peacefully is a much better option than fighting you to sleep in your bed...
but of course i can't let you stay on the floor...
and roll under your bed...
so i lay you ON your bed before i head to bed...
only for you to wake up about 4-5 hours later screaming that you want to be on the floor! and of course your sister can't let you be the only one getting special treatment around here...
this phase lasted a few weeks...

of course we got ya back into bed eventually and the floor phase is long gone.

and if we turn on a movie during no nap days - um, you fall asleep.

- you still suck your thumb and pull your (or anyone else's) ear. all.the.time. you have chapped thumbs. :(

- you really love all your friends. your big sis is your best friend for sure. and you're an amazing little sister!

- you're a goof and we're all just absolutely crazy about you!

i CANNOT believe we'll be celebrating your 3rd birthday once spring hits. we love you so much adde ann.
