i've heard of those kids that get it right away and potty train in 24 hrs....i just thought their mothers were probably saying that to make the point of 'they were easy to train'....and i definitely thought that i certainly wouldn't have one of those kids. but miss elena is so so good to her mamma! :)
we stayed home for 4 days! i was nervous about taking her out and about. i didn't want her to have to deal with accidents away from home or hold her urine for whatever reasons. but we've been out a lot the last 4 days and she does GREAT!!! the very first time she was upset...she's partial to her small pink potty at home, but she does just fine with others' big toilets now.
she tells me when she has to go. and at home, she'll just go and then holler for me when she's done. she's able to pull her underwear and sweatpants up and down on her own (we haven't tried jeans or anything since). she has no problems going #2...today she went 5x's! she eats a very high fiber diet. ;) she still likes to empty the potty bucket herself, but knows she's only to help us. she's also learning to wipe.
we still put a diaper on elena for sleep...nap and night. she actually stays dry during her nap. and does often get up once or twice during the night to go. but i think it just depends on where she's at during her sleep cycle. she definitely is less wet, but sometimes she's wet and sometimes she's dry. and the only accident she's had was when she fell asleep playing "nap" in her bed. and i refuse to restrict liquids, so i'm expecting to keep diapering her for sleep...until it's more age appropriate of course.
what we did...
- waited until she was ready. if she wouldn't of made progress, we would've stopped altogether and tried again in another month or more. i did not want to be potty training for several months.
- no strict schedule...if i saw a dance or wiggle, i'd ask. otherwise i'd follow her lead. no timers or schedule. i wanted her to recognize the feeling, not get trained by the clock. when she'd start to go i'd bring her in the bathroom.
- underwear only. no diapers (except for sleeping. i personally don't like pull-ups, so i'm just sticking with the diapers). no pants. we did everything in just underwear for 2 days. and i got a ton of underwear so we wouldn't run out.
- lots and lots of juice and water. i used 1/3 pear juice (helps with #2's) and 2/3 water. and kept it coming and coming and coming. she also eats a very high fiber diet.
- fun new sippy's and straws that kept the drinks appealing.
- sticker chart and candy as rewards. i only used these day 1 and day 2 morning. she did so well and just would go in on her own that i just stopped. if she asked for one after i would give it to her, but she forgot about the reward system really quick.
- and the big helper was having her listen for "it." it being pee or poo.

Way to go, Elena! I love that she's drinking out of a Miller Light glass. :)
Yay Elena!! And yay for her momma too!! :)
Good to know! Even though I heard boys are a lot harder to train. Keeping my fingers crossed that Endrew's goes smoothly. No pressure, no pressure.
